Thank you…

As I contemplate what a wonderful birthday it has been…

This morning, after my 53rd birthday, I sit here enjoying an awesome cup of coffee. And I gaze out the window into the early morning darkness.

Ever so slowly the light reveals a beautiful field covered lightly with a fresh blanket of snow.

A majestic deer cautiously treks across the white carpet. The quietness of the moment seems like an orchestra playing an overture to a new wonderful play.

Although there are clouds I believe in the sun.

I ponder the numerous phone calls, text messages, emails, social media posts, birthday cards.

The delicious home-cooked meal. The yummy vanilla cake and the sweet chocolate frosting.

The wonderful birthday movie date (Hidden Figures).

So much love!

As the light emerges the darkness is driven away.

A new beginning.

I’m thankful for countless blessings. Especially for all the loving family and friends that make this a glorious world.

Thank you all for kindness, well wishes, and most of all, for being you!

And may God Bless you today on this joyous, fresh, wonderful new day!

Sincerely,

Phil

hi Phil, I also have stage four colon cancer had most of my colon removed but unfortunately had spread my lungs and liver. I was wondering what chemo drugs you were administered?

      Hi Jason,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your story—it takes strength to talk about what you’re going through, and I deeply admire that. I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis and the challenges you’re facing with the spread to your lungs and liver.

When I was undergoing treatment, my oncologist prescribed different drugs at different points in my battle. I documented the drugs, surgeries, along with the impact they had on my cancer, using the CEA marker as the indicator of cancer activity. You can find this chart here:

      CEA History

Everyone’s journey with cancer is unique, so it’s important to discuss your options thoroughly with your medical team to find the best plan tailored to your situation.

If you’re comfortable, feel free to share more about your journey here. You’re not alone in this fight, and I’d be honored to support you in any way I can.

      Wishing you strength and healing,

      Phil
